Edge Hill Golf Course - Williams Wedding

It is always exciting to be photographing a wedding over the weekend and knowing it will be at a Venue you have never Photographed before. The Edge Hill Golf Course is tucked away in the rolling hills of Ashfield, Massachusetts. Beautifully landscaped grass fields, Stonework and a rustic old barn welcome you to the Course. It was a perfect day and we really enjoyed our time with Stefanie and Adam during their special day.

The theme for the wedding tied in perfectly with the weather conditions. The leaves were starting to turn colors, the smell of fall was in the air. Absolutely Gorgeous.

Stanley Park Wedding Details

The wedding of Shauna and Garry was full of great details. From a unique necklace made for the bride, to cute wooden ring boxes, this couple planned their wedding perfectly. We loved taking pictures of Mr. & Mrs. Demers' wedding day. Capturing all of the wedding details helps us remember the day, and gives a clear picture as to how much time and care the couple took in planning their wedding day.

An old-fashioned typewriter made the perfect backdrop for Ms. Demers' engagement ring.

The bridal party had wonderful flowers to carry on the wedding day.

The lace details on Ms. Demers' dress and veil were simply amazing.

Senior Pictures in Western Mass - Kat

While we spent quite a bit of the fall photographing weddings, we squeezed in this beautiful senior portrait session at Glendale Falls and then at Becket Quarry. Glendale Falls is an amazing waterfall out in Middlefield, Massachusetts. Glendale Falls is worth the trip, and the top of the waterfall is easily accessible from the parking lot.

Becket Quarry is another story as far as accessibility. We are guessing that few people get their senior pictures taken at Becket Quarry, but we learned that Kat was into the supernatural, and Becket Quarry has a reputation for being haunted. While we didn't see any ghosts on our visit to the quarry, we did find some cool old trucks that Kat was happy to pose in.

The mile or so hike up to Becket Quarry to take pictures of Kat was worth it. It's important to capture images that reflect who you are at the time of your senior portrait session, and not just get a good head shot.

Thank you to Kat, who was so fun to spend the afternoon with as we took pictures of her for her senior portfolio.

The Story of Us: A Unique Way to Commemorate Your Love

We have been working hard here at Sugarloaf Studios. With the wedding season winding down, and only 20,000 or more images left to edit, we are taking a break to let you know about a new product we have developed for 2015.

The product is called "The Story of Us".

The Story of Us is your story, commemorated in an 8x12, professionally printed book by Artisan State. We use your engagement photos (we offer a free engagement shoot to all couples that sign with us for 2015). Melissa meets with both of you together and separately, to learn about how you met, your dreams for the future, and anything you want to share about your story.

You will receive a 5,000 word, professionally written book that includes pictures, words, and places for guests to sign if you want to use this as your guest book.

The cost for a "Story of Us" guest book is $550, which is an add-on price for all couples that are getting married in 2015 and have signed us as their photographers.

The Wedding of Garry and Shauna Demers at Stanley Park

The weather refused to cooperate on October 4, 2014 for the wedding of Shauna Meuse and Garry Demers. Although the bride was optimistic about the rain clearing, the ceremony was moved inside at Stanley Park to the Meeting House, which was a beautiful place to hold a wedding. When you aren't able to go outside for pictures, you do get some extra time to capture images of the bride as she gets ready for her wedding day. The Benefits of an Unplugged Wedding

Some of you may have heard the term "unplugged wedding", but maybe you aren't quite sure what it means. An unplugged wedding is defined as a wedding where you ask all of your guests to put down their cell phones, their cameras, their ipads and their tablets and stop taking pictures.

If you have spent the money for professional wedding photography there is no reason to have guests taking pictures.

The benefits of an unplugged wedding include:

Guests can sit back and enjoy the ceremony instead of trying to capture a shot.

You won't have a bunch of pictures of Uncle Bob or Auntie Ann getting in the professional photographer's way.

You will be the first person to see pictures of yourself on your wedding day, instead of thousands of people on Facebook.

As two photographers that always work together, we recently shot a wedding that included a very persistent Auntie Ann. We asked her to get out of the way on numerous occasions, even telling her that she was in too many pictures and we couldn't get a clear shot of the couple without her there.

This guest was using a small camera, capable of roughly one picture every ten seconds.

We'd love to show you the images from the wedding day, but we aren't into shaming guests. What we will share is this:

The great shot of dad walking his daughter down the aisle? It was perfect. Crystal clear. Dad smiling nervously and bride looking at her groom....except Auntie Ann's butt was in the middle of the aisle, trying to get a shot too.

The ring exchange? After the first time Auntie Ann was asked to move?

Beautiful images, if you like an added person with their camera in the photos, getting so close to the hands of the bride and groom she was practically touching their hands. She stood next to the officiant with her camera and would not move.

Was this an excessive case of Auntie Annie Syndrome?

Yes. This was the first time a guest has been so blatant about ignoring us and refusing to step out of the way. We are frustrated for the bride because she will not be happy with her images that would have been beautiful minus the face of some random guest who decided that two professional photographers was not enough coverage.

We are two very laid back, relaxed photographers. We encourage you to tell your guests to sit back and enjoy the day you have spent many hours preparing for.

Quonquont Farm is a beautiful, rustic wedding venue in the heart of Western Mass. Located in Whately, Quonquont Farm hosts weddings and other large events throughout the year. We were thrilled to be chosen as the wedding photographers for John and Julia, who were married in August this year. The country wedding this couple planned was fun to photograph, and the weather was simply perfect for guests to enjoy a walk outside on the grounds of Quonquont Farm.
